F5Bot Alternatives: Options by Job, from Alerts to Replies
The main alternatives to F5Bot depend on what you need after the alert: Syften if your buyers talk beyond Reddit, Hacker News and Lobsters; Reddit Pro for free keyword tracking run by Reddit; Subreddit Signals for a ranked shortlist with drafts you post yourself; or an AI agent such as Agent Agency that also writes and posts. F5Bot's free plan is for personal use.
What does F5Bot do?
F5Bot watches Reddit, Hacker News and Lobsters for the keywords you enter and sends you an alert when they show up in a new post or comment. Its FAQ says it checks for new content every few minutes and searches post titles, URLs and comment bodies. Alerts arrive by email, instantly, batched or as a daily digest, and Gold and higher plans add Slack and Discord delivery and RSS and JSON feeds. Its founder made it in 2017 and it is run by F5Bot LLC.
- What it does well: you can start free without entering payment details, and flags such as
only-subredditandno-urlnarrow an alert to the communities you care about. - AI filtering: on Gold and above you describe what you are looking for in plain words and AI checks each new discussion against it, on top of exact keywords.
- Two smaller sites: Hacker News and Lobsters are covered alongside Reddit, which matters if your buyers are developers.
F5Bot plans on 30 October 2026
| Plan | Price | Meant for | Keywords | Alert delay | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Personal use only | 5 | Up to 2 hours | Email alerts |
| Silver | $12.99 a month or $143 a year | Individuals, personal and non-commercial use | 20 | Up to 5 minutes | Full post text, keyword filtering, ad-free emails |
| Gold | $49.99 a month or $549 a year | Professionals and small businesses | 200 | Instant or scheduled | RSS and JSON feeds, 1 Slack or Discord integration, AI filtering |
| Platinum | $214.99 a month or $2,364 a year | Agencies | 300 | Instant or scheduled | API and webhooks, 3 Slack or Discord integrations |
| Diamond | From $500 a month | Enterprise | Custom | Instant or scheduled | Custom limits |
AI filtering includes the first $10 a month of token usage; above that it is billed by tokens on top of the plan. Each plan also caps the alerts per keyword and per day, and a keyword that goes over its cap is switched off until you turn it back on.
Where F5Bot falls short
- Business use costs more. The free plan and Silver are for personal use. If you monitor for a business, a client or something you sell, F5Bot's own pricing page points you to Gold at $49.99 a month.
- Popular names are hard. Its FAQ says it is built for fairly uncommon keywords, may not be the right tool for a very popular brand, and does not let free accounts track very common words.
- Three sites. It covers Reddit, Hacker News and Lobsters. X, YouTube and forums are outside it.
- Alerts only. It tells you where to look. Reading the thread, writing the reply and posting it stay with you.
What should you decide before you switch?
- Where do your buyers ask? If they ask only on Reddit, a Reddit tool is enough. If they also ask on X, in forums or under YouTube videos, you need a tool that covers those sources.
- What happens after the alert? Some tools stop at the alert. Some rank the threads and draft a reply for you to post. Some also post, from your account or from one you rent. The Reddit Rules ask people to take part authentically in communities where they have a personal interest (Rule 2) and not to intentionally mislead others or impersonate someone in a deceptive way (Rule 5), whichever tool you use.
- Does the reply say who it is for? In the US, the FTC's answers on the Endorsement Guides say a connection to the seller should be disclosed where readers will see it, and that a note on a profile page is not enough. Our disclosure templates show short lines that fit inside a comment.
- How does the tool get Reddit data? Reddit said on 30 September 2026 that public API access will end by March 2027, and TechCrunch reported that social listening products are among the tools affected. The F5Bot pages we read do not say how it reads Reddit, so ask any vendor, F5Bot included, what that date changes for them. Our post on the Reddit public API shutdown follows the dates.
The alternatives, one by one
1. More sources and faster Reddit alerts: Syften
Syften is a keyword alert tool for the public web and many communities, among them Reddit, Hacker News, Lobsters, Indie Hackers, Stack Exchange, GitHub, Dev.to, Bluesky, Mastodon, Slack communities, podcasts and blogs. Its FAQ gives a target delay of under 1 minute for Reddit and says it does not monitor LinkedIn. Its FAQ lists email, Slack, RSS, API and webhook delivery. Entry costs $29.95 a month, Standard $49.95 and PRO $119.95; Standard adds AI filtering and Slack, PRO adds webhooks and the full archive, and X ($40 a month) and YouTube ($20 a month) are paid add-ons on Standard and PRO. It offers a 14-day free trial without a credit card and says it has operated since 2019.
- Good for: teams whose buyers ask in many places, or who want an archive search of past mentions.
- Limits: its pricing lists no free plan after the trial, and like F5Bot it is a listening tool, so reading, writing and posting stay with you.
2. Free tracking from Reddit itself: Reddit Pro
Reddit Pro is Reddit's free toolset for businesses. You track keywords and phrases such as your business, products and competitors, set up a business profile, take part in conversations as the business, and see how your posts and comments perform.
- Good for: a business that wants its alerts and its answers in one place, as the brand, without paying.
- Limits: it covers Reddit only, and it shows you conversations but writes nothing.
3. A ranked shortlist with drafts you post: Subreddit Signals
Subreddit Signals watches the subreddits you pick for each product and ranks matching posts by product fit and buyer intent, so you see a shortlist instead of every match. When you want a draft, it writes one in your voice; you edit it and post it from your own Reddit account, and its home page says it does not post replies automatically. Starter costs $29 a month and Pro $59 a month, each after a 14-day trial that needs a card.
- Good for: founders who want fewer, better alerts and a first draft, with their own account on every reply.
- Limits: it covers the communities you choose, not all of Reddit, and nothing beyond Reddit.
4. An AI agent that also writes and posts: Agent Agency
Agent Agency is not a keyword alert tool. It covers the step after the alert: taking part in the conversations. It reads up to five public pages from the link you give it and drafts a Product DNA, a summary of your product that you correct and approve, with a first list of subreddits, each with a short reason. The agents read each community's rules, then draft comments, posts and DMs. Reddit and X are live.
- Who posts: you can connect your own accounts and keep the karma they earn, or rent one of ours. If a platform restricts an account, the agent stops working on it, and we don’t hand you a new one to carry on.
- Control: in Approve mode every post, comment and DM waits for your OK. On Autopilot the agents act on their own inside the rules and limits you set. A daily report lists what they did and what they skipped, and why.
- Mentions: no bare links, no copy-paste replies, and product mentions only when they answer the question, under a daily cap.
- Disclosure: you decide how your accounts say who they work for, inside the platform's rules and the law on material connections.
- Limits: invites go out from the waitlist in small batches, and pricing is announced with the first invites.
Can you track mentions without a tool?
Partly. Google's site: operator limits results to one domain, so site:reddit.com followed by your keyword returns results from reddit.com only. It is a search you run by hand, not an alert. Do not build a new alert on Reddit's RSS feeds: Reddit said RSS support ends on 13 November 2026, in the same announcement TechCrunch covered.

Which option suits you?
You only need to know when your name comes up
Stay with F5Bot, on Gold if it is for work, or use Reddit Pro if Reddit is the only place that matters.
Your buyers ask in many places
A wider monitor such as Syften gives you one feed across Reddit, X, forums and more.
You get too many alerts to read
A lead tool such as Subreddit Signals ranks the threads and drafts on request, and you post from your own account.
You have the threads but not the time to answer
An agent such as Agent Agency, with Approve mode while you learn how it writes. The agency, agent or DIY comparison covers the trade-offs.
Agent Agency is the wrong pick if an alert is all you need, if your buyers talk mainly on Hacker News or Lobsters, or if you need to start this week: invites go out in small batches, and Reddit and X are the platforms that are live.
If you are moving off F5Bot
- Copy your keywords and flags
Copy the keyword list and note the flags you rely on, such as only-subreddit or no-url, so you can set the same filters up in the new tool. - Run both for a week
Keep F5Bot on while the new tool runs, and compare which threads each one catches before you rely on one. - Decide which accounts answer
Pick the founder account, a team account or a brand account, and write the one-line disclosure it will use. Our guide to finding the subreddits where buyers ask helps you choose where to start. - Downgrade or cancel
F5Bot's FAQ says your alerts stay on your account after you cancel, but alerts that use paid features stop matching until you subscribe again.
Questions
Is F5Bot free?
F5Bot has a free plan that needs no payment details. Its FAQ says the free plan is intended for personal use. On 30 October 2026 it allowed 5 keywords with alerts sent up to 2 hours after a match. Silver costs $12.99 a month for personal use, and Gold, for professionals and small businesses, costs $49.99 a month.
Does F5Bot monitor X or Twitter?
No. Its FAQ lists Reddit, Hacker News and Lobsters as the sites it monitors. Syften covers X as a paid add-on of $40 a month on its Standard and PRO plans, and Agent Agency works on Reddit and X.
Can F5Bot reply to threads for me?
No. F5Bot sends alerts and leaves the reply to you. Subreddit Signals drafts a reply that you post from your own account, and an agent such as Agent Agency drafts and posts on accounts you connect or rent, with each one waiting for your OK in Approve mode.
Will F5Bot keep working after Reddit's API changes?
The F5Bot pages we read do not say how it gets Reddit data. Reddit plans to end public API access by March 2027, and TechCrunch named social listening products among the tools affected. Ask F5Bot, or any other vendor, what that change means for their service.
