GummySearch Alternatives: What to Use Before December 1, 2026
GummySearch stopped taking signups and payments on November 30, 2025, after it could not get a commercial license for Reddit's Data API, and it shuts down, deleting all user data, on December 1, 2026. Export your data first. Then cover each of its jobs separately: Reddit Pro Trends for keyword tracking, a pain-point tool for idea research, and a lead tool or your own reading for threads to answer.
What happened to GummySearch
GummySearch was a Reddit audience research tool run by one founder, Fed. On November 6, 2025 he announced in The Final Chapter for GummySearch that the business would close. GummySearch had been trying to get a commercial license for Reddit's Data API and could not reach an agreement that fit Reddit's policies, so it had to become non-commercial or shut down. He chose to wind it down over one final year.
The reason matters for whatever you pick next. Reddit's Data API Terms say in section 3.1 that using the Data APIs for commercial purposes needs a separate agreement with Reddit, and section 3.2 bars earning revenue from them without Reddit's written approval.
| Date | What changes |
|---|---|
| November 6, 2025 | Closure announced. Signups and payments stay open until the end of the month. |
| November 30, 2025 | New signups, plan purchases, day passes and renewals end. The free tier closes. |
| December 1, 2025 to November 30, 2026 | Paid customers keep access until their billing period ends, at most one year. Subscriptions cancel themselves. Free users can only log in to view, download or delete their data. Lifetime deal holders keep access until November 30, 2026. |
| December 1, 2026 | The service shuts down completely and all user data is deleted. |
What you are replacing
GummySearch did several jobs in one product. Its help center lists audiences (an audience is a collection of subreddits you want to research), keyword search, customer discovery themes, trending subreddits, keyword tracking, pattern analysis, subreddit stats and bookmarks. Its home page names four uses: coming up with startup ideas, validating demand, finding content ideas and finding sales leads.
No tool we found covers all of those the same way, so it helps to name the job you actually used it for and replace that first.
| Your job | Where to look | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Tracking a keyword, brand or competitor | Reddit Pro Trends (free, run by Reddit) | How far back the history goes |
| Finding pain points and product ideas | Pain-point tools such as PainOnSocial or IdeaFast | Which communities and time window a scan covers |
| Finding threads where you could answer | Lead tools such as Redreach or Subreddit Signals, or your own reading | Who writes and posts the reply, and from which account |
| Research across Reddit and other networks | Cross-platform tools such as BuzzAbout or Adlicio | Which platforms are included and how the data is collected |
| Planning and scheduling your own posts | Schedulers such as Postpone | Each subreddit's rules on self-promotion still apply |
| Taking part in the threads you found | Doing it yourself, or an agent on your own accounts | Who decides what is posted and how it is disclosed |
The list GummySearch's founder published
When the doors closed, Fed published a short list of GummySearch alternatives in four groups, and noted that some of the links on it might be affiliate links. Here is what each tool says about itself on its own site, as of October 22, 2026.
Cross-platform market research
- BuzzAbout: AI analysis of social media conversations, looking for pain points, objections and other patterns. The founder's list names Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X and LinkedIn as sources, plus listening agents and an API.
- Adlicio: collects customer comments from many platforms, including Reddit, Amazon, TikTok and YouTube, and turns them into ad angles. It connects to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants.
Reddit lead generation
- Redreach: finds Reddit conversations where your product could come up, including posts that rank on Google, with AI-guided replies and brand and competitor monitoring.
- Subreddit Signals: watches the communities you choose and ranks posts by product fit and buying intent. You review the post, draft a reply and post it from your own account.
- ReplyAgent: described on the founder's list as an AI agent that scans Reddit for relevant conversations and promotes your product.
Pain point analysis and posting
- PainOnSocial: you pick communities, it analyzes recent discussions and returns ranked pain points with quotes and links back to the threads.
- IdeaFast: scans a subreddit over a time window such as 7, 30 or 90 days for recurring complaints and turns them into startup ideas. Its site says it is a one-time payment, not a subscription.
- Postpone: a scheduler for planning, publishing and analyzing posts across a dozen networks, Reddit among them.
We looked for independent numbers on where GummySearch's customers actually moved and found none. Coverage such as Failory's write-up explains the closure but does not track migration, and most of the "best GummySearch alternatives" articles we found are published by companies that sell one of the tools they rank. Read those rankings, and this page, as vendor content.
Ask every replacement how it gets Reddit data
As Failory pointed out, GummySearch still had customers and demand. It closed over data access, and the rules have tightened since. On September 30, 2026 Reddit announced that public API access will end by March 2027, and that developers of approved apps must register with it before January 12, 2027 or lose API access, as TechCrunch reported. TechCrunch named social listening products among the tools affected. Our post on the Reddit public API shutdown follows the dates.
Before you move a year of research into a new tool, ask the vendor:
- How do you get Reddit data, and do you have an agreement with Reddit that covers commercial use?
- What happens to the product after March 2027?
- Can I export my saved lists, searches and notes in a plain format?
- If you close, how much notice will customers get, and when is our data deleted?
A vendor that cannot answer the first question clearly carries the risk that closed GummySearch.
Reddit Pro Trends: the free option from Reddit
Reddit runs this one itself, so a third-party data license is not the question. Reddit added Trends to its free Reddit Pro suite for businesses in January 2025, according to TechCrunch. You track a keyword or phrase, such as your brand, a product or a category, and see conversation volume over time, the communities mentioning it and a feed of the conversations.
A how-to article in Practical Ecommerce from April 2026 adds detail. Reddit Pro is free for businesses that give their name, URL, category and number of employees. Trends lists recent threads with an AI summary of their context and sentiment, sends a weekly email, and has a Questions tab for threads phrased as questions. One limit the author flags: the chart date filter only goes back three months.
It fits keyword tracking well. Both articles describe tracking keywords, not saved groups of subreddits, so keep your own audience list.
Doing the research without a tool
- Rebuild your audience list
Take the subreddits from your export and read each one's rules and sidebar again. Rules may have changed since you saved the list. Our guide to finding the subreddits where buyers ask covers adding new ones. - Search through Google
Google's site: operator limits results to one domain, so site:reddit.com followed by your keywords returns results from reddit.com only. - Log patterns by hand
Keep a sheet with the complaint, the thread link and the date. After a few weeks the repeats show you what a theme report used to. - Do not plan around RSS
Reddit said in the same September announcement that RSS support ends on November 13, 2026, so feed readers will not replace keyword alerts.
Where Agent Agency fits, and where it does not
Agent Agency is not a research dashboard and does not replace GummySearch's reports. It covers the step after research: taking part in the conversations. You paste a link to your product, and the Product DNA we draft from it includes a first list of subreddits, each with a short reason. You review and approve it. The agents read each community's rules, then draft comments, posts and DMs on the accounts you connect.
In Approve mode every post, comment and DM waits for your OK. On Autopilot the agents act on their own, inside the rules and limits you set. A daily report lists what they did and what they skipped, and why. Reddit and X are live, and invites go out from the waitlist in small batches. The how it works page has the details, and agency, AI agent or doing it yourself compares the three routes.
Questions
When does GummySearch shut down completely?
On December 1, 2026. Its help center says the service closes entirely that day and all user data is deleted. Until then, customers with a paid plan as of November 30, 2025 keep access until their billing period ends, and lifetime deal holders keep it until November 30, 2026.
Why did GummySearch shut down?
Its founder wrote that GummySearch relied on Reddit's Data API and could not reach a commercial license agreement that fit Reddit's Data API policies. Reddit's Data API Terms require a separate agreement for commercial use, so the choice was to become non-commercial or close.
Is there a free GummySearch alternative?
For keyword tracking, Reddit Pro Trends is free for businesses and is run by Reddit itself. An April 2026 article notes that its chart date filter only goes back three months. For the rest, a spreadsheet, Google's site: operator and regular reading of the communities you care about cover a lot without a subscription.
If your research already shows where your buyers ask, add your product URL and a few answers to the waitlist. Invites go out in small batches. Join the waitlist
